Propane is an incredible fuel source that not only keeps homes and businesses warm, but it’s also safe, environmentally-friendly and cost-effective as well.

The problem is, when it comes to propane, there are many misconceptions and questions people have about its applications, safety, delivery and more. 

Budget Propane Ontario has listed the four most common questions we get asked, to help bring some clarity to using propane as a fuel source:

Most of us have been enjoying the warm summer temperatures - spending time outside, going to the beach, relaxing at the cottage or enjoying a boat ride. Soon the cooler temperatures will be upon us and it will be time to turn the heat back on.

Propane is a safe, efficient, reliable and eco-friendly way to heat your home but, like any fuel or gas, sometimes leaks occur. 

As we mentioned in our recent blog, failing to protect your cottage from frozen, bursting pipes can result in a substantial amount of damage. This is also a risk if you travel and leave your home unattended for long periods of time throughout the winter.

However, did you know that many insurance policies have a stipulation that makes you responsible for ensuring that your home heating is running properly when your cottage is unoccupied, or that pipes are shut off and drained to protect from this sort of damage. 

The school year has nearly started which means summer vacation will soon be a thing of the past. Temperatures will be dropping, air conditioners will be turned off and then eventually we will be preparing the cottage for winter.

While some winterize and close-up their cottage until the weather starts to warm up again in the spring, many continue to use the cottage during the cold winter months.
