Did you know that propane is lower in emissions, more affordable and improves the Canadian economy to sustain job growth?

March 19th is National Propane Day, highlighting the ways in which propane COMBATS climate change and is a more reliable, Canadian energy source and supplier.

With the push towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable environment, Budget Propane and the Canadian Propane Association (CPA) have united to clear the air on any misinformation and provide communities with the proper tools to learn the benefits of switching to propane.

Propane Misconceptions:

- Harmful to the environment and not a clean energy source
- Dwindling supply, driving up costs
- Limited usage to barbecues and heating only

Propane Truths:

- Lower in emissions for cleaner air and less pollution
- Increased supply and more affordable for better cost-effectiveness towards your savings
- Reliable, Canadian energy source for a variety of uses

Let’s break it down further.

According to the CPA, Canada’s propane supply is set to increase by 30 per cent by 2030. That’s approximately 387 barrels per day, meaning propane supply is not only increasing, but is stable and available to fit your propane requirements.

Propane is not just for barbecues, patio heaters or fire tables, its expanded uses fit a variety of areas like auto-propane and propane fueled school buses. They cost around 50 per cent less than the old diesel fueled models and burn significantly cleaner and have been safety tested to ensure that everyone on board arrives at their destinations safely.

With a push for a greener future, Canada has proposed an Alternative Fuel Act where schools across Canada are making the swap, so students breathe cleaner air and are a safer alternative to less stable forms of energy.

Electricity is often inconsistent, so making the switch to propane means power outages become a thing of the past. Propane is more reliable, and your generators will be up and running when you need them most.

With 1 in 7 barrels of propane being exported to the United States, Ontario sees an average of $525 million or about 31 kb/d, creating more Canadian jobs and driving positive economic growth, with more money in your pockets towards your savings goals.

The propane industry creates 27,485 jobs each year, with a turnover of $5.15 billion in GDP. Switching to and supporting the propane industry means you are part of the reason Canada sees success in creating jobs and economic growth

Propane is a reliable, clean, affordable and Canadian energy source and Budget Propane is proud to showcase National Propane Day to continue the conversation towards a greener future.
