Cap and Trade

Written by James Callow | Thu, Dec 29, 2016 @ 03:00 PM

The new Government of Ontario Cap and Trade system is going into effect on January 1st, 2017. This is going to effect all forms of electricity, natural gas, propane and other heating fuels.

The cap and trade program is designed to confront climate change head on and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This affects both home owners, motorists and business owners across the province.

While we aren’t currently sure what the total amount will equate to, you can expect anything between 2.7-3 cents per litre for propane. The total cost will depend on how much fuel you use, so for some, it may not be that much of an extra cost.

Budget Propane will be separating the cap and trade tax on delivery meter tickets and /or invoices as a separate line item. However, due to some back-end set-up that is required, this may not happen for a month or two.

Please contact us at Budget Propane for any questions regarding the Cap and Trade.
