Propane Service Tips For Winter Delivery

Written by James Callow | Wed, Oct 15, 2014 @ 06:23 PM

While we are all enjoying the beautiful weather this fall, it’s an unwelcome reminder that winter is just around the corner.  Last year we experienced one of worst winters in decades, with frigid temperatures, heavy snowfalls and strong winds affecting all of Canada.  Though the upcoming winter is expected to be milder, we will still experience the snow and ice storms that make us the Great White North.  Stay warm and comfortable this year by following these tips:

  1. Fill Your Tank.  Fill your tank as soon as possible.  Following the month of November, propane delivery becomes more difficult due to probable weather conditions, making October the ideal time of year to fill you tank.
  2. Arrange for Delivery.   Automatic Delivery uses a state-of-the-art forecasting system to ensure your fuel level stays above 30%.  This type of delivery requires less work than the Will Call system and will help you avoid emergency deliveries.
  3. Get Serviced.  Ensure your furnace and appliances are running efficiently.  This service check will help you save money during the winter months.
  4. Inspect For Heat Loss.  Check caulking around doors and windows, seal air leaks, and check insulation in your attic or basement.
  5. Mark Your Tank.  Mark your propane tank location with a flag, pole or stake that is higher than the average snow depth in your area.  This will prevent any snow removal accidents and make your tank easier to find following a snowfall.
  6. Clear A Path.  When the snow hits, make sure to clear a pathway to your tank to assist with delivery.

A full fuel tank, automatic delivery, and efficient appliances will ensure you are comfortable and warm in your home this winter.  Combined with safety measure such as marking your tank and clearing a path, you will be prepared for winter’s worst.
